“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
”God is love; whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in him” (1 John 4:16)
– a love which is not limited only to the biological person, but which refers to the entire human person, the summit of God’s creation.
In the Gospel of the day, he speaks of the love of God for humankind and of humanity’s love for God.
“God is love” – here is expressed the essence of God. “He who lives in love lives in God and God in him”. We approach God with the emotion of love which surpasses all understanding.
If we examine our life more deeply, we realise not only the love of God, but that we live in that love.
They who harmonize their lives with God’s will especially feel God’s love; they who become acceptors of the Divine will; they who say “show me Lord, the way I should walk”; they who change the “I want” of the self to the “I want” of love and forgiveness.
“God is love; whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in them”.
Love brings us into closer communion with God and this communion creates internal serenity. According to the Gospel, love is expressed through our love for our fellow humans. We see God in the image of our neighbour.
We love God “for He first loved us”. Love towards God and towards our neighbour completes human happiness.
